Loans for peerages

Zopa is the home of peer-to-peer lending, so frankly we were a little bit disappointed with ourselves for not coming up with the idea of offering peerages in return for loans.

But as we’re not averse to jumping on bandwagons, we’ve decided to launch our own loans-for-peerages initiative.

Simply put an additional £1000 on the Zopa exchange before 14th April and we’ll preface your username with the word ‘Lord’ on the site until the end of May 2006.

To qualify firstly reply to this post saying ‘I want to be a Lord’ and then when you put the money on the exchange, the Zopa peerage is yours.

(Unfortunately for very boring technical reasons only those people with usernames that are 8 letters or shorter can become Zopa Lords. Sorry.)

This is a great concept and one more reason I really need to move to the UK. I’m a small business owner and getting a small loan from a bank is a joke in the states. I run a competitive video game company. We run video game tournaments where people compete for cash and prizes. Some paid for by us and some by sponsors I manage to land. So far we have been able to get Electronic Arts to give us product and as a matter of fact it’s not too hard to get prodcut from companies but it’s the cash we need.

Our concept is to market movies or games or whatever to the people that attend the events. Our events last about 12 hours so it’s maxium exposure for minium cost. The problem is getting the money. MLG another company like us but a lto bigger just received 10 million in funding so I know the cash is out there it’s just hard to find in the states.

Ok back to the subject…this is a great concept and I hope it really takes off and starts making banks actually compete for the business. You guys could change the world with your concept. Well at least the way banking is done.

Good Luck and Cheers!

i’m sorry I didn’t mean “guys” in the traditional since of the word. I meant as a group. So did my shameless plea for funding strike a cord? I hope so cause I’ll take the funding from anywhere in the world that’s willing. :-)

Ross - I think Mailan meant she wanted to be a Lady, not a Lord! :) I don’t think we can help right now, but good luck with your business.

Mailan - You can be Lady Mailan if you’d like!

I’m trying to join ZOPA but your site seems to be down. In any case, I would very much like to be a LADY !

E-mail me please when you’re back online.

Many thanks.

Anyone who wants to be a Lady can be a Lady. Tatiana - we’ll make you a Lady!
