Banks vow to end sales of PPI

The majority of the UK’s high street banks recently announced that the days of single premium PPI are numbered - until the end of the month, in fact.

Having withdrawn our PPI offer several months ago and with plenty of comment from us in this blog and to other bodies, our views on the subject are well documented. But we’re pleased to see that the banks are taking such proactive steps and look forward to seeing what effect, if any, this has on the interest rates that they advertise on personal loans in the future.

Yeah too many banks have profited from PPI for far too long. It is good to see that some changes are finally happening

Next for the guillotine: legal insurance premiums which don’t pay insurance premium tax because they use no-win no-fee lawyers? And trades unions who do the same?

Single premium PPI can add £1000s onto the cost of the loan. Consumers should shop around and find out how to get cover more cheaply.

My sister took a loan during college for £1000 making sure she checked the interest rates they were charging. Once she accepted, she was then ‘forced’ to take a PPI if she wanted to acquired the loan.It turned out that 3 years later she was still paying ridiculous amounts of money and her debt wasn’t even half paid. Anyway…she decided to sue the lender but with so much paperwork and standard procedures she contacted a PPI claim company that did all the work for her. Their name is Belmont Thornton. They helped her go through the whole thing…she had been desperate and they really made it easy for her. Now her debt is almost all paid off and she will finish school almost debt-clean…the agency’s website is http://www.ppiclaimcompany.co.uk…
