Zopa’s co-founder Giles Andrews named in The Digital Banking Club Power 50

We’re excited to announce that our executive chairman and co-founder, Giles Andrews, was included in the third annual Digital Banking Club Power 50.

About the Power 50

The Power 50 is a list of the most innovative and influential people in European digital financial services – it recognises the importance of technology and digital banking to the future of mobile and online financial services.

The list was selected by members of the Digital Banking Club, subscribers of the Retail Banker International magazine and, an external panel of high-profile judges. This year’s judging panel included a number prominent figures, including business journalist and author Chris Skinner, financial services expert and creator of RBS Global Mobile efforts Roy Vella, and the Director of Fujitsu Digital, Mike Sewart.

Giles accepting his award

Giles is the only representative from the peer-to-peer lending industry on the list, recognising his pivotal role in founding the industry and guiding its development. Others on the list include pioneers from across digital services, such as the CEO of Atom Bank, founder of the fintech start-up GoCardless, and the CEO of 11:FS – an investment fund focussing on investing in Blockchain start-ups.

An award-winning year

This is the latest in a series of awards for Giles and Zopa in 2016. Giles kicked off the year by receiving an OBE for his contribution to financial services in the New Year’s honours list and was also included in Business Insider’s 40 coolest people in fintech. Zopa has been named ‘best loan provider’ four times this year alone, including by MoneySuperMarket. Check out our trophy cabinet for more details.
